Starting an affiliate website? Awesome! One of the first things you need to do is get fast, reliable and secure hosting so you can focus on your website.
What Is Website Hosting ?
So a website is a made up of a bunch of codes that describe how it’s going to look when you go to the website and is kept on a server which then translates it to a computer using the internet.
A web host is a company that basically rents out a space on their server to store your websites information so it can be on the internet.
To get hosting you would go through a hosting provider such as BlueHost for example. Website hosting is something you will have to have if you want a website/blog. My site is hosted through Wealthy Affiliate because they also teach how to generate an income with a website using affiliate marketing so it is perfect for me but depending on what your reason for the website there are different companies to go with to get your website hosted, I’ll give you a list of them in a minute.
Read on to see what types of hosting there are and what to look for in a hosting service provider
Types Of Website Hosting
Shared Hosting – Offered by just about every hosting provider, shared hosting is just that. It is shared with multiple websites. How many? maybe thousands but by sharing, the cost is less expensive. Website are hosted on a single server maintained by the hosting service.
Along with hosting, the service provider will also provide you with website set up, a security package that will help keep malware, spam and hackers out, an SSL certificate which keeps personal information secure as well as a domain. A domain is your.com or.org or whatever you choose. It’s basically your website address.
Shared hosting is the least expensive, perfect for beginners with easy website setup and can be around $2 per month
VPS Hosting ( Virtual Private Server Hosting ) – VPS hosting is still shared but in a little different way. To be able to provide websites that have out grown the shared hosting.
VPS uses one main server that host multiple virtual servers, each separate from each other so that the website owners will have more flexability to be able to choose how many resources they need. This is different from shared hosting because with shared hosting resources are shared equally with all websites.
VPS can run between $15 and $60 per month, perfect for websites that have seen large growth and need more flexability.
Dedicated Hosting – Dedicated hosting is completely separate servers, they are not shared at all and have complete flexability when it comes to how much space they need.
Dedicated hosting is for high traffic websites and runs between $70 and $150 per month.
Managed WordPress Hosting –Since WordPress is so popular, some hosting providers have created plans just for WordPress users specifically optimized for WordPress
Since you are just starting out and I am assuming you are or you’re looking into it. Shared hosting is a perfect place to start as you read above. It can take months, sometimes years before a new website gets so much traffic that you will need another type of hosting.

Bluehost does not offer anything specifically for affiliate marketers like Wealthy Affiliate but aside from their hosting which runs from $3.95 to $13.95 per month they do have professional services to help with your website for an extra cost. Take a look below
Bluesky – Their best package for just WordPress support is Bluesky for $149 a month ( all this plus more at Wealthy Affiliate for only $49 a month! )
- On demand ticket, phone and chat support
- Account access assistance
- Website back up assistance
- SEO assistance
- Content and Landing page assistance
Other than Bluesky, Bluehost offers a professional service account to help establish your business. You would have to set up a consultation with them for pricing. It does carry a 6-month commitment with a $300 cancellation fee.
These are my two recommendations for hosting your affiliate marketing website. One offers an all in one for affiliate marketers for an affordable cost and a free trial ( Wealthy Affiliate ) The other ( bluehost ) would be for just hosting because their other services are very expensive. Bluehost would be your option if you could not afford Wealthy Affiliate which is $49 a month.
One idea is to go with Wealthy Affiliates free plan because you get a free website and you could take advantage of all their free affiliate marketing training. It’s pretty awesome.
I hope I didn’t confuse you with all this info but I am here if you have any questions.
